Review
Our Traeger Grills Timberline 1300 Pellet Grill review provides you detailed information related to this pellet grill and how it compares to other pellet grills currently out on the market. The Timberline 1300 pellet grill is the cream of the crop Traeger Pellet Grill that is competition worthy and can smoke your meats 20% faster compared to competitors grills. It is a higher priced pellet grill ranging around $2000 but has some unbelievable features that make it worth every penny if you are serious about smoking meats and grilling.
Timberline 1300 Pellet Grill Features
The Timerberline 1300 Pellet Grill is a sturdy grill/smoker that is packed with premium features that make it the perfect pellet grill for making competition ready smoked meats in your own backyard.
Easy To Use Controller
The Traeger Timberline Grill is equipped with a state-of-the-art electronic, digital readout controller that is Wi-Fi®-capable. Simple to start cooking you just turn on the grill by pushing the standby button then the ignite button and you are all set. You can turn the dial to choose your desired cooking temperature or select on of the custom cook programs.
The controller comes with a super smoke option that when pressing it will add more smoke flavor to your food. Press it again to cancel. What we also love about this grill is it has a keep warm function then can be activated by the controller or your smartphone and will pause the cook cycle or keep your meats warm when finished cooking.
The grill comes pre-programmed with several custom cook programs and you can also program your own custom programs. The way the custom cook program works is you select the type of meat you are smoking, for example brisket, and it automatically cooks to the desired temperature or time it will automatically adjust to the next desired temperature and alert you when the meat is done. You can add your own custom cook programs or you can easily download any of Traeger’s 100’s of recipes directly to your grill once your grill is connected to the internet via your home network.
Timberline Custom Cook Program Example:
- Brisket Cook is selected
- During Step 1 Brisket Will smoke at 165 degrees for 3.5 hours
- The grill then will switch the cooking temperature to 225 degrees and cook until the internal temperature reaches 190 degrees
- The grill will notify you through your smart-phone app when the cook is complete

Traeger WiFire Smartphone App
The Timberline 1300 is compatible with the Traeger Wifire app which means you can control the grill directly from their phone . Options including changing the temperature, turning up the smoke, setting and checking the timer, and knowing the exact internal temperature of your meat at any time.
- Send 1000 of recipes directly to your grill from the smart app and the Timberline will do the work of setting and changing temps
Large Rack Grilling Space
Traeger’s Timberline 1300 pellet grill has 3 stainless steel racks that have 1300 square inches of grilling rack space. One of the nice features of the bottom two racks have rack stops. Simply slide the rack out until the crossbar catches in the rack stop, and you’ll be able to flip burgers or baste ribs easily without the rack tipping. The bottom rack is also adjustable where you can adjust it to two different levels depending on if you are searing or smoking meats. The grilling space is adequate for cooking up to Cook up to 60 burgers, 12 chickens, 82 hot dogs or 14 rib racks.
Large Pellet Hopper
The Timberline 1300 comes with a pellet hopper that can hold up to 24 pounds of wood pellets which is adequate for cooking both short term and long term meals. On average a pellet grill will consume between 1/2 lbs and 2 lbs of pelllets per hour depending on the heat setting desired.
Traeger’s Timberline 1300 is constructed with a TRU Convection cooking system with an induction fan for even distribution of heat & smoky flavor which means it cooks 20% faster and maintains a +/- 5°F** temperature when cooking. It’s cooking range is from 165°F to 500°F.
You don’t have to worry about the Timberline 1300 holding up as it is constructed with double-wall, commercial-grade stainless steel. Another awesome feature the Timberline comes equipped with is an airtight lid gasket around the lid which keeps smoke from seeping out which is a problem with most lower priced pellet grills.
Overall we love the Timberline 1300 grill and it is a well built pellet grill that comes equipped with all the bells and whistles. One thing we wish it did have was a second internal meat probe but to compensate we use an aftermarket blue tooth enabled meat probe.

This is my second traeger the other one is 19 years old still going strong at our mountain cabin. The new 1300 we bought is amazing. Had it about 2 months now, used it at least 20 times. The control panel and the super smoke are great options. This is a 10 star smoker thanks traeger.
